Real Questions, Real Concerns: What People Actually Ask Us

When it comes to pest control, questions can typically fall into a few categories:

Those who know exactly what they need. Those that have a pretty good idea but need an assist. And those who just know something’s wrong.

At BUGCO Pest Control, we get all types of inquiries every day and we’re happy to help no matter where you are in that journey.

Whether it’s ants in the kitchen, rodents in the attic, or a full-blown bed bug emergency, pest problems can be confusing, urgent, and overwhelming. So we thought we’d share some real questions (yes, word-for-word) that customers have sent us, and walk you through what those situations mean, what to expect, and how we might respond.

“Hello! I’m looking for pest control, mostly for ants and wasps. I would be interested in monthly services. Thank you!”

What this tells us:

This customer is being proactive and probably dealing with ongoing outdoor or seasonal infestations. Ants and wasps are two of the most common household pests in Texas (besides pests like termites), especially in spring and summer.

Our response:

While we can offer monthly services, quarterly perimeter pest control is standard. We focus on common crawling insects around the home and ways to keep them out of the house. We will be looking for conducive conditions and other types of pests. Routine service is ideal here because both ants and wasps can return quickly, especially after rain or construction.

“Hi, we just bought an older home that had been vacant for some time and there were rodents up there. Looking for a good cleaning and sanitizing.”

What this tells us:

Rodents were nesting in the attic, probably leaving droppings, nesting materials, and urine odor.  The insulation is more than likely no longer effective due to age and is contaminated with germs and bacteria.

Our response:

This calls for a 3-part process:

  1. Rodent exclusion – sealing all possible entry points to prevent re-infestation.

  2. Sanitization and attic cleanout – including removal of droppings, insulation, and nests.

  3. Insulation upgrade – using pest-resistant cellulose treated with borates.

“My elderly mom has bed bugs. Need a whole house quote please. Call or txt back. Thank you.”

What this tells us:

This is an emergency situation. Bed bugs spread fast and create high anxiety, especially when the customer is elderly or vulnerable.

Our response:

We schedule an inspection. Our treatment approach depends on a few factors:

  • Level of Infestation, Scope of Treatment

  • How Many Rooms Need to be Treated

  • Options for Proactive recurring Bed Bug Treatments

  • Client Preparation and Compliance with Specialists' Instruction

We always treat bed bug cases discreetly and compassionately.

“Hello. I'm reaching out in regards to a quote for service for debugging roaches. Just based on some research I believe they are German roaches. I live in a tri-plex rental apartment and my landlord recommended me to reach out to this service. I was hoping to seek some assistance.”

What this tells us:

Warning; Do Not Self Treat. German cockroaches are fast breeders, highly resistant to treatment (especially canned aerosols from big box stores), and hard to treat without professional help. Multi-unit housing is a factor that can add to the risk of cross-infestation from neighbors and places for them to escape when treated improperly. Apartments, Duplexes, Triplexes, and other similar multi-family dwelling units are susceptible to heavy infestations.

Our response:

This situation requires precision and persistence:

  • We perform an initial inspection and verify the species.

  • We use an industry-proven, scientifically based approach geared toward German Roaches.

  • Work with the landlord or property manager to ensure cooperation across all units.

“Looking for yard treatment for fire ants and fleas.”

What this tells us:

This is an exterior pest issue that can make its way inside. Fire ants and fleas cause painful stings and bites. Both thrive in the heat and start outside.

Our response:

We recommend a lawn treatment program that includes:

  • Broadcast granular treatment for fire ants, fleas, and other pests.

  • Liquid application when needed to treat in the affected areas.

  • Routine seasonal checks to prevent recurrence.

This type of service not only improves your level of comfort but also reduces pest pressure around the home.

“In need of a WDI inspection.”

“I'd like to get a quote for WDI and Termite Inspection.”

What this tells us:

These customers are likely buying, selling, or refinancing a home. WDI = Wood Destroying Insect inspection or a WDIR = Wood Destroying Insect Report (this could include NPMA 33 or the NPMA 99 for VA Loans) required for real estate transactions.

Our response:

We provide state-compliant WDI inspections that include:

  • Termites, Carpenter ants, Carpenter bees

  • Conducive Conditions or conditions that make infestation more likely

  • Signs of Previous Activity or Previous Treatments

The report is delivered same-day or next-day, and we offer rush services when deadlines are tight. Be sure to ask for details.

“Hello my current contract is ending soon so I am shopping around for other pest control services. Are you able to quote me for a 3000 sq ft 2 story home? I prefer quarterly visits and also free service if any pest issues arise in between visits.”

What this tells us:

This customer knows what they want. They’re comparing providers and already understand quarterly service and want to know how the warranty works.

Our response:

We provide a transparent, customized quote based on:

  • Home size and structure type

  • Pests that are covered under the warranty, and which ones require separate services

  • Frequency of service (quarterly is very popular)

  • Whether attic, yard, or garage treatments are needed

“Looking for an estimate for bed bug treatment.”

What this tells us:

Unlike the earlier bed bug inquiry, this one is more price-focused. They may be early in their decision-making or comparing companies.

Our response:

We offer quotes after inspection because bed bug pricing varies based on:

  • Infestation level

  • Treatment method

  • Number of rooms/furniture involved

We also explain the pros and cons of each method and help the customer plan a budget.

“Could you let me know: * More details about your pricing (especially for regular/ongoing service) * If you offer any discounts for new or long-term customers and process of setting up account.”

What this tells us:

This person is ready to sign up, they just want clarity.

Our response:

We explain:

  • No Contracts

  • Quarterly pricing

  • Discounts/Referral bonuses

  • How to set up auto-pay and customer portal access

We emphasize no hidden fees and make onboarding fast and simple.

“I’m looking for ant, wasp, and spider care. Thanks.”

“I'm looking for a price on treatment for roaches, spiders, fleas, and maybe mice.”

“Needing indoor pest control for small spiders as well as mosquito control. Our backyard has a ton of mosquitos and spiders to the point we can't even go outside.”

What this tells us:

These are multi-pest, mixed-environment cases. They cover indoor and outdoor concerns and usually require layered solutions.

Our response:

These customers benefit from pest control through:

  • Outdoor mosquito treatments

  • Interior baseboard applications and crack/crevice spider treatment

  • Rodent control

  • Flea and roach combo treatments

Our team creates custom plans based on the combination of pests and the layout of the home.

Why These Questions Matter

All of these real-life customer messages have a few things in common:

  • They’re asking for help with specific, stressful problems.

  • They often don’t know exactly what they need; they just know they need trustworthy help.

  • Some want details. Others want it handled. Fast.

That’s where a great pest control company makes the difference, not just in spraying or baiting, but in listening first, explaining clearly, and tailoring the service to each person’s home, budget, and peace of mind.
